Heritage Activation Node at Punggol (HAN@Punggol) is a three-year heritage, art, and community initiative developed by OH Open House supported by the National Heritage Board. The project aims to foster close collaborations between Punggol's community members and artists to excavate lesser-known aspects of the neighbourhood's history and shape new heritage stories. Through year-round heritage and art initiatives, HAN@Punggol aims to empower communities with the agency to shape the culture of their neighbourhood and champion its culture to others.
For the first year of HAN@Punggol, the project will focus on Getting to Know You––meeting Punggol's communities, learning the existing culture within its spaces, and uncovering the historical issues which have shaped the neighbourhood. Volunteers will be closely involved as cultural mappers and documentors to support the project team in discovering Punggol through story-collection, interviews, and portrait archival of its people.
